Today began with the mandatory speed-controlled lap for all newcomers. The purpose of the lap is to introduce the riders to the Mountain Course under controlled conditions, allowing them to study the racing lines, key landmarks and safety procedures before riding at full speed.

Markus had the incredible honour of completing the lap with John McGuinness MBE as his instructor. John is one of the greatest riders in Isle of Man TT history, with 23 victories and 47 podium finishes. He was also the first rider ever to complete a lap of the Mountain Course at an average speed of more than 130 mph.

There could hardly have been a more experienced guide for Markus’s introduction to this legendary 37.73-mile course.

Markus successfully completed the speed-controlled lap and is now approved to take part in practice and qualifying. The first important step is complete – now the real challenge begins!
